SYRACUSE - Richard L. "Rich" Timmons, 76, of Syracuse, died at 5:10 a.m. July 3, 2010, in Elkhart.

He was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Milford, to Ross R. and Edith M. Stout Timmons. On July 9, 1954, in Sacramento, Calif., he married Jayne M. Kline, who survives.

He was a lifetime Milford/Syracuse area resident and attended Milford Public Schools. He retired from the Chevrolet dealership in Syracuse several years ago and was a self-employed auto mechanic. He was also a former co-owner and operator of Country Home Floral Shop on Huntington Street, Syracuse, for many years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, and formerly attended Christian Center Church, South Bend.

Also surviving are a son, Gregory A. (and spouse Pam) Timmons, Syracuse; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Donnabelle Yoder, Syracuse; Dorthea Stutzman and Phyllis Copenhaver, both of Goshen; and Frances Armey, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and four brothers.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Brian Stutzman officiating. Military rites will follow the service by members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. A private burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
