Richard E. Riedel, 78, Mentone, passed away at 9:40 p.m. July 31, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Fort Wayne, to Carl R. and Eveline Studler Riedel. On Aug. 11, 1962, he married Marna Kay Goshert, who preceded him in death March 1, 2011. He was a 1954 graduate of Northside High School, Fort Wayne, and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years for Goshert Insurance as a crop insurance agent and general insurance agent. He had also worked in sales for 15 years for United Telephone Company, retiring in 2000. He was on the board of directors of CASA of Kosciusko County, was a member of Boy Scouts of America and volunteered for many church functions. He enjoyed riding his Can-Am Spyder, traveling, musical shows and he especially enjoyed his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Paula B. (and spouse David) Spolski, Beaver Dam, and Laura J. (and spouse Fred) Closs, Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Helene Evans, Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Justin and Brandon Larrabee, both of Claypool. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Fritz Riedel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to CASA of Kosciusko County, 121 N.
