Richard E. “Dick” Boyer, 76, Warsaw, died at 12:10 p.m. May 15, 2016, in his home. He was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Warsaw, to Samuel Franklin and Emma Tomkins Boyer. On Feb. 3, 1962, in Warsaw, he married Jeannine Stamper, who survives. He enlisted in the United States Navy in Warsaw, entering into active service Aug. 7, 1957, as a machinist mate on the USS Carter Hall in the Pacific. E-5 Richard Eugene Boyer was honorably discharged Oct. 20, 1960, at U.S. Naval Station in Long Beach, Calif. After a 1967 auto accident left him legally blind, he graduated from Purdue at IU Purdue Fort Wayne with an associate’s degree in computer science. His family and grandchildren were his love. He enjoyed fishing, camping and was a passionate golfer – especially with his friend Phil Cartwright and his golf buddies in Berrien Springs. He was very creative and was a member of American Legion Post 258, Pierceton. He also is survived by three daughters: Laurie (and spouse Vern) Fredericks, Warsaw; Lisa (and spouse Ryan) Frauiger, Bluffton; Lindy (and spouse Darrell) Dingess, Larwill; a son, Troy (and spouse Nanyamka) Boyer, Texas; nine grandchildren: Sarah and Jordan Fredericks, both of Warsaw; Shanda (and Spouse Steve) Kopp, Grand Rapids, Mich; Matthew (and spouse Jessica) Thomas, Savannah, Ga.; Lucas Thomas, Kalamazoo; Justin Shockley, Holden, Miss.; TJ, Tatiana and Trinity Boyer, all of Texas; a step-grandson, Dewayne Dingess, Royal Center; three step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Heisler and Esther Prater; a brother, Tommy Boyer; and a step-granddaughter, Tammy Thomas. Services will be at noon Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Steve Rahn, First Baptist Church of Warsaw, and Pastor Bob Brown, God’s Highway to Heaven Church, Warsaw, officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to the family and will be used at their discretion.
