NORTH WEBSTER – Richard D. Gaerte Sr., 69, Pierceton, passed away at 1:02 a.m. June 13, 2016, at I.U. Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Wolf Lake, to Forrest and Eileen Fetters Gaerte. He was married April 12, 1975, in Wilmot, to Maria I. Delacruz, who survives in Pierceton.
He was a lifetime area resident and attended North Webster High School. He was a lifelong truck driver and retired after 52 years. He was affiliated with the Country Bible Church, North Webster.
Also surviving are two daughters, Misty Gaerte, Pierceton, and Roxanne Kammer, Daleville; four grandchildren, Jeramiah, Nathan, Kyle and Jessica; two great-grandchildren; and six sisters: Mary Lou (and spouse Larry) Leamon, Wolf Lake; Dora Mae Clingerman and Judy (and spouse Charles) Meservey, all of Pierceton; Roma Earl and Jean (and spouse Jim) Prescott, all of Warsaw; and Becky (and spouse Dave) Bushong, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Richard D. Gaerte Jr. and Anthony D. Gaerte.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Myron Drent of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, Wilmot.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
