He was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Kosciusko County, to Jay and Maybelle Biller Rohrer. On April 20, 1951, in Goshen, he married Phyllis Hunsperger, who survives.
He graduated from Nappanee High School in 1948, and Olivet University, Kankakee, Ill., and earned a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame. He was a guidance counselor at Hamilton, Greene, Center Township and Edison schools in the South Bend School District. After retirement, he worked at Performance Technology, Wakarusa, and Versatile Tool and Die, Elkhart. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Wakarusa American Legion.
Also surviving are two sons, David (and spouse Kathy) Rohrer, Plymouth, and Stephen (and spouse Patty) Rohrer, Lafayette; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Bute, Elkhart; and a brother, Norman J. (and spouse Pat) Rohrer, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel with Pastor Norm Reimer officiating, assisted by the Rev. Paul Loucks. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
