SYRACUSE - Richard D. "Dick" HInton, 84, North Webster, died May 7, 2010, at 2:45 p.m. at Mason Health Care & Rehab, Warsaw.

He was born July 7, 1925, in Fort Wayne, to Harry M. and Cecile F. High Hinton. On Dec. 2, 1944, in Norman, Okla., he married Betty J. Brubaker, who survives.

He graduated in 1943 from Central High School in Fort Wayne with yearbook leadership honors and was in the National Honor Society. He received his BSME degree from Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne and served in the United State Navy during World War II. He worked for Essex International and United Technology in Fort Wayne before retiring in 1990 as manager for technical service for Essex Magnet Wire and Insulation Division after 20 years of service. He formerly worked at Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Corp. for 21 years as works manager where he helped start up and complete a new facility in Hopkinsville, Ky. He came to Webster Lake since 1944 before moving there from Fort Wayne in 1976.

He was a member of the North Webster Church of God, past president and member of Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, Three Rivers Masonic Lodge 733 F & AM since 1953, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne. He was also commissioned by the Governor of Kentucky in October 1966.

Also surviving are three daughters: Dr. Kay J. Blalock, St. Louis, Mo.; Marta J. (and spouse Gary) Zoller, Auburn; Tina L. (and spouse Glenn) McDonald, Leeds, Ala; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry "Junior" (and spouse Dorothy) Hinton, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Fisher.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the North Webster Church of God with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
