By Staff Report-
The businesses are planning their second annual breast cancer benefit Friday and Saturday.
Donations from the benefit will be made to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.
The two-day event is planned to coincide with Warsaw’s First Friday and Downtown Days. Planned events include music, food, a beer tent, roller derby exhibition, motorcycle show, information booths, t-shirt sales and an auction.
Friday’s activities kick off at 5 p.m. with food, live music and an exhibition by the Lake City Derby Dolls, a local roller derby team.
Friday’s food menu will be centered around barbecue chicken and fresh corn on the cob, and various side dishes will be offered.
The music tent will offer a variety of bands and musicians in a Battle of the Bands contest where the winning band is determined by who has the most donations from the audience.
There also will be picnic tables available for seating to watch the start of the Shriner parade at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday’s activities kick off at noon with the continuation of the Battle of the Bands contest.
Saturday’s food menu will feature a hog roast and corn on the cob with various side dishes. There also will be a motorcycle show with a benefit ride to follow. There will be seating available to watch the downtown bicycle race.
Sign up for the motorcycle show and ride will begin at noon. The benefit ride will follow at 4 p.m.
Donations for riders will be $25, and $5 for co-riders. The awards for the bike show will follow and the benefit ride also will be in four different categories.
The music tent will be hosted by Joe Schroeder, a local comedian, on both days. The music tent will be the location of an auction of services and products provided by local businesses.
There possibly will be a best beard contest or a hot buns contest if enough participants can be coerced into signing up.
The featured foods for this event will be prepared by the Fred Holst family, who have provided for many hog roast benefits over the years.[[In-content Ad]]
