NORTH MANCHESTER – The Rev. Raymon E. Eller, 102, of North Manchester, died at 7:50 p.m. Feb. 7, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born March 31, 1910, in Salem, Va., to C.E. and Rebecca Martha Henry Eller. On June 13, 1937, he married the Rev. AnnaBelle Whitmer, who died Aug. 4, 2004.
He was a retired clergyman with the Church of the Brethren, serving in Schoolfield, Bassett and Richmond, Va.; Dundalk, Md.; York, Pa.; Gettysburg and Akron, Ohio; and Wichita, Kan. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.
He received the Outstanding Service Award from Bridgewater College in 1993. He was a member of International Poetry Society and wrote poetry, which has been published in many books including a book of poems and proverbs published in July 2001. His poetry is in the Library of Congress. He is in Who’s Who in Religion. He completed seven interim pastorates since 1980, was a member of church choirs and Bethany Theological Seminary Male Quartet in 1936. He was tour host to Bible Lands and Europe six times.
Surviving are three sons: Stanley W. (and spouse Margaret Duston) Eller, Manchester, Maine; Jerry R. (and spouse Jan ) Eller, Merritt Island, Fla.; and Rufus E. (and spouse Kathleen) Eller, Haw River, N.C.; a daughter, Rebecca Ann (and spouse James) Replogle, Bridgewater, Va.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. March 23 at Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, with the Rev. Shawn Flory Replogle and Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. March 25 in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Va.
Calling is one hour prior to the service March 23 at the church.
McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
