He was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Leo and Leila Christine Neher Polman. On Aug. 22, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, he married Phyllis Jeanette Kinsey, who died Jan. 27, 2008.
He graduated from South Side High School, Fort Wayne, Bob Jones University in 1943 and received a master of divinity from Grace College and Seminary, Winona Lake, in 1946. He was a Grace Brethren pastor retiring in 1986, and moved to Kosciusko County from Lansing, Mich. He was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church and belonged to the National Philatelic Society.
Surviving are a son, Roy Lee (and spouse Judy) Polman, Cherry Valley, Calif.; two daughters, Ann (and spouse Dave) Grant, Gainesville, Fla., and Kay (and spouse Jeff) Bowling, Cumming, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (and spouse Robert) Griffith and Elaine Brenneman, all of Winona Lake.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Bruce Barlow and Chaplain Bryan Benjaman officiating. Entombment will be in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville, Ohio.
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
