LEESBURG - Retha E. "Eloise" Gable, 83, of Leesburg, Ind., died at 4:05 p.m. March 13, 2010, at Peabody Health Care, North Manchester.

She was born May 10, 1926, in South Whitley, to Vesterman A. and Willodean Miller Reed. On June 29, 1946, she married Carroll E. Gable, who died Oct. 18, 1994.

She graduated from South Whitley High School and lived in South Whitley most of her life until moving to Irish Lake in 1984. She retired in 1994, from Gripco Fasteners, South Whitley, as traffic manager after 23 years of service. She also worked at Lincoln Life, Fort Wayne, for four years and she started her working career at Wabash Magnetics, Huntington. She was a member of United Methodist Church, North Webster. She was a former member of South Whitley United Methodist Church and Lakeland Kiwanis, North Webster. She enjoyed the adventure of travel, seeing most of the United States and several trips to Europe and the Caribbean. She loved the many winters she spent in Fort Myers at Thunderbird Park. She was also known for the art of correspondence, always sending just the right card.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (and spouse Dennis) Ducey, Warsaw; a son, Bruce (and spouse Dora) Gable, South Whitley; a grandson, David Gable (and fiancé Laura), Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Ashkea (and spouse Michael) Semone, Noblesville; a great-grandson, Rylan Semone; a sister, Mary (and spouse Gene) Mann, Fort Wayne; and a sister by friendship, Evelyn Bixler, Mishawaka.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, officiated by Pastor David Smitley of North Webster United Methodist Church. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.

Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home.
