I normally don’t check back to see if anyone reads letters online and leaves comments, but I happened to check because someone so happened to leave a comment that made me chuckle. For the record, yes, I did point out to the Democrat Challenger in the Indiana House 22nd District race his exact words over issues he has talked about over the past several years.
However, I also went one step further and I checked his campaign page. And as of the time I am writing this letter, Democrat lawyer David Kolbe has not taken a single stance on any issue on his campaign page. Not one. All we get are generalities about leadership. This guy wants to be elected as a blank slate. And since he is lacking on stances, could it be that he is trying to tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear, but then if he gets to Indianapolis, vote the way he is told? And if memory serves me, didn’t an incumbent lose in May for this very reason? Now he has come out recently and defended a tax that can hurt business owners.  How can a candidate be fiscally conservative, yet defend tax increases?
For a refreshing change, on Republican Curt Nisly’s campaign page, you can clearly check to see where he stands on issues that are important to him and what voters tell him are important issues.
All the Democratic Challenger wants to say is: “Come listen to me … hear me speak.” By contrast, Curt Nisly has been going directly to the voters of the district, knocking on their doors, and respectfully listening to what the voters have to say. Curt Nisly always has, and always will make this about the issues the voters of the 22nd District have said are important to them, and he has always told you where he stands.
A person’s character and position on the issues are the most important part of a campaign. It is not debates, it’s not petty bickering, it’s not trying to distract voters by running away from your political party. To me, I want a representative who will act in the best interest in the cause of liberty, and to me, that person is Republican Curt Nisly.
One last thing I would like to say directly to that commenter. You point out how you don’t even live in the 22nd district and you seem to me that you’re pretty disappointed with Rep. Dave Wolkins. You don’t like your representative, so you want voters of a different district to elect a representative that you like. I have a better idea, if you don’t like Dave Wolkins, run against him next time!
