    Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Inc. has named Dr. Betty Jo Koss, former president of the group and retired Indianapolis children's dentist, to its highest honor - Distinguished Lake Citizen for 1996.

The nearly 700-member group honored Dr. Koss in a surprise presentation at its annual dinner dance.

September 5 1981

    The Division 1 champions in the Warsaw Optimist soccer league was Judd Cook Chevrolet. Team members are Jamie Leeper, Roger Sarber, Kevin Stump, Eric Nesbitt, Tom Devenney, David Clements, Aaron Morrison, Ben Glowe, Tim Lewis, Tim Alcorn, Trent Biller, Matt Cook, Andy Alcorn and Sean Kinsey. They were coached by Connie Clements and Roger Stump.


50 Years Ago

September 5 1956

    Melvin Greider, 20, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reg Greider, North Webster, returned to Quonset Point, R.I., and his ship, the carrier Tarawa.

Greider operates hydraulic elevators that raise and lower planes to and from the flight deck. The Tarawa, with a crew of 1,500 enlisted men and from 150 to 200 officers, serves primarily as a training ship for navy pilots. It carries 35 planes.

    Chris Gilbertson, past commander, will represent the Warsaw Spanish War veterans at the national encampment at New Orleans. Virgil E. Curry, Oswego, present commander of the local post, Fred Biggs and Alonzo Lehmn, are planning to accompany Gilbertson.
