Belatedly we learn that Carolyn Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bowen, a member of the Burket Cheerio 4-H club, captured a blue ribbon placement and third award in the state demonstration contest at the Indiana state fair. The title of her demonstration was "That Paint Brush Trim," a lesson on decorating home furnishings and fabrics.

A bed aged 127 years, on display at the American Legion fair booth here, evokes many comments the best of which came from an older fair visitor who blurted out, "That bed must be seconded handed," as she read the sign on it. "Over 127 years old."
