September 14 1989

    A flock of Canada geese stopped a jet from taking off at the Warsaw Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Airport director Karen Sheetz said a Westwind jet being used by Biomet was trying to take off the east-west runway about 3:30 p.m. when a flock of geese got in the way. The pilot tried to stop the plane but ran off the end of the runway into the field.

    The name of Danny Lee Miller, son of Mrs. William Miller, Rt. 1, Warsaw, will appear in the eighth annual edition of "Who's Who Among American High School Students."

A senior at Wawasee High School, Dan is active on the football and track teams, Lettermen's Club, Christian Athletes, and is vice president of his church youth group and Sunday School class.

    Carl Zimmer, manager of the Warsaw H.J. Schrader store recently presented Mrs. Marie Banning, of Lake Wawasee, Syracuse, with a new deluxe 8-cubic-foot refrigerator. She entered an old salt brine type unit in an "oldest refrigerator in running condition" contest, which was sponsored by the Schrader store. Mrs. Banning's refrigerator has been in continuous service for 26 years.

    Surveyor S.S. Boggs was contemplating the opening of the new Palestine-Warsaw turner road pavement next Saturday or Monday. Residents in this section have been put to much trouble entering their farm homes through fields and over detours.
