    David Penrod is going to get his corn picked the old fashioned way.

His farm will be the site of the Indiana Hand Corn Husking Contest Saturday and Sunday. The farm is on Ind. 13 south of Ind. 114.

    The Grand Opening of Kline's World and the newly remodeled Kline's main floor in downtown Warsaw will begin Oct. 10 and will continue through Oct. 26.

A ribbon will be tied between the two stores - Kline's World at the corner of Market and Buffalo streets and Kline's main store location at 113-115 E. Market St. - and will be snipped at 9 a.m. while traffic is halted on Market Street for a brief period.

    Visitors to Warsaw have expressed considerable surprise at the size of the sassafras tree in the front yard at the John Lucas residence, 419 E. Fort Wayne St. They say the 2-foot-thick trunk of the tree is many times larger than any they have ever seen and think it may be the king of its kind in this part of the country. The tree, by the way, bears three different kinds of leaves, as do all sassafras trees.

    Frederick Hatfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hatfield, who is a student at Chicago University, has been pledged into the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity there. He was one of the 60 students pledged out of a class of 1,000.
