    Warsaw senior Angie Johnson is one of four girls who appear on the northern Indiana edition of Hoosier Basketball. The front cover is used to highlight the state's top players.

The Warsaw girls' team is ranked No. 2 in the state and the boys are ranked 32nd.

    Mrs. William (Jo Ann Merkle) Vrabel, a staff writer for the Time-Union, captured two of the three awards for "Best News Story" appearing in newspapers from 10,000 to 30,000 circulation at the annual fall meeting of United Press International Newspaper Editors.

Her five-part series on "The Poor," featured in the Times-Union in late October and early November of 1973 won her first place, and her three-part series on "Mental Health" in January of 1974 won her one of the two honorable mention awards presented at the banquet.

    Two boys from Bourbon have won awards at the National Future Farmers of American convention at Kansas City, Mo. Robert Luty and Keith Stackhouse were given gold emblems in the 4-H Livestock and Meat Judging contests.

    Virginia Ruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ruse, of this city, left on Thursday morning for New York City, where she will study music in the New York Piano Conservatory of Affiliated Art. Ruse has studied previously in the East and is a very talented young lady.
