Second Lt. Paul Bontrager, son of Edward and Josephine Bontrager, Syracuse, has graduated from the officer rotary wing aviator course and received the silver wings of an Army aviator at the U.S. Army Aviation School, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Charles Bertsch, chairman of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Merit Board, presented Sheriff David Andrews with new audio and visual equipment which will provide better security in the county jail. This equipment will permit the one operating the radio at the desk to observe what goes on in the cells and the bull-pen at all times. The equipment cost $2,500.

A "gypsy party" was enjoyed by the members of the Pollyanna Club, who were entertained by Mrs. Oscar Hugo, of East Main Street. All were dressed in garb true to clan tradition. By secret ballot Mary Shinn was elected "gypsy queen." As they passed in review Mrs. Wilma Gerard and Mrs. Gordon Tombaugh were judged as wearing the most typical costumes. Their prizes were garments smuggled from other members.

Winifred Muir, missionary to China and proprietor of the art shop at Winona Lake, has returned from a recent trip to China about which she relates interesting tales of the Chinese revolution. She tells of the bombardment of Peking in which shrapnel shells penetrated her home and struck a bathtub, not far from where she was standing.
