November 30 1989

    While many deer hunters spend a lifetime in search of that elusive "big buck," Justin Vining achieved success at age 9. Justin lives at 210 Reed St., Warsaw. He was hunting with his father, Wesley Vining, in Lake Township earlier this month when he bagged a 12-point buck. The deer weighed in at 190 pounds field dressed. The youngster made the shot with a .20-gauge shotgun at approximately 30 yards.

    Sandy Davis, looking forward to her fourth birthday Dec. 4, is the Times-Union Calendar Girl for the month of December. Sandy wants a Rub-A-Dub doll for Christmas. No doubt Santa overheard her remark and she will probably get what she wants. Sandy has an older sister, Cindy, age 7. Their parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, 2022 E. Center St., Warsaw.

    The DePuy Manufacturing Company team, Warsaw, captured first prize of $125 in the Ladies' Land-O-Lakes handicap bowling tournament, which ended last night in Warsaw. The tournament, held over the past three week-ends, was sponsored by the Warsaw Women's Bowling Association.

The DePuy team, composed of Alpha Wedrick, Ethel Hilliard, Fraze Bungard, Geraldine Lemna and Alice Shipley, had a total score of 2,563 pins for their three games.

November 30 1924

    Clem Goshert, of near Atwood, last night found a young black horse, which he is holding. It is believed to be the property of Homer Brault, of Pierceton, which was seen beating a freight train through Warsaw last night. The animal evidently ran 12 miles, faster than the train. Jesse Miller, towerman, and Joe Teightmeyer, crossing man, saw the horse race through Warsaw.
