    Warsaw Christian School administrator Norman Gunsolley understands the meaning of "putting your neck on the line." He challenged students to reach an $8,500 goal during the school's recent magazine campaign. Gunsolley's tie was cut shorter each turn-in-day, and was completely cut off when the school surpassed its goal, with students bringing in $9,400 in magazine sales. Stephen Krieg and Jahna Swanson, members of the fourth-grade winning classroom, administered the final snip.

    Rod Wildman and Bing Johnston received the Minear All-Sports Award and Fisher Football Award, respectively, at the annual Elks Athletic Awards Banquet. Presenting the Minear Award to Wildman was Bernard Minear, son of the founder of the award given to the top Warsaw Community High School student who letters in three sports. The Fisher Football award is presented in honor of former Warsaw football coach George Fisher.

    Jack Sumpter has been elected honorary captain of the 1949 Warsaw High School track team, Coach George Fisher announced Tuesday. Sumpter was elected by 23 teammates who also were chosen to receive "W" letters for having scored 10 or more points in track competition this spring.

    An unusual demonstration of sturdiness is being shown here by the O.W. Wiard Garage, Winona Lake. A Star car driven on three wheels, one being removed, to demonstrate the sturdiness of the construction of the car. Doors of the car open freely despite the unusual strain. The car attracted much attention here today.
