    Juniors David Schmahl and Kari Timm have been selected by language arts teachers Cyndi Thornburg and Terry Iden as Wawasee High School's representatives in the 1989 National Achievement Awards in writing competition.

This writing competition is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English, and is supported by grants from the Maurice R. Robinson Fund and the New York Times Co. Foundation.

    Officials gathered at the east edge of Warsaw to officially break ground for the new $1.3 million manufacturing office complex for DePuy Inc., Warsaw, a division of Bio-Dynamics, Indianapolis. Construction is expected to be completed late this year.

    Local members of the Ayrshire Breeders' association, John Sensibaug, Rt. 3, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smith, Claypool, Gene Warner, Silver Lake, and Gene Hamman, South Whitley, have returned from Indianapolis, where they attended the 74th annual meeting of the organization. A highlight of the meeting was the sale of 20 heifer calves held in the ball room at Hotel Antlers.

    Orr Cook, of west of Warsaw, is owner of a pure bred Jersey bull from Snowball Blossom St. Lambert, the dam which headed production of butterfat in Indiana for the month of March. Fifty-two cow testing associations reported that Snowball Blossom St. Lambert headed them all in March with more butterfat than any cow of any breed in Indiana.
