    In a seasonal quest to be first, a young Etna Green boy takes this year's honors. Word has it Jason Disher, 9, spotted a robin outside of his home last week while waiting for a school bus to pick him up. Jason was so excited about seeing the first robin of spring, he called his grandmother immediately with the news.

    Wawasee High School's SAE chapter captured six major awards at the state convention held Saturday in Indianapolis. They are: Ann Brice, Roz Long, Jane Wilson, Rhonda Graff, Becky Replogle and Rich Timmons.

    Dr. M.D. Price, well-known Nappanee physician, has been awarded a jeweled pin and named honorary town citizen of the month. The honor was presented to the 77-year-old physician at the Nappanee community building.

Dr. Price has been practicing medicine in Nappanee for 38 years and has delivered 2,500 babies.

    Chimney sparks and defective flues caused more fires in Indiana last year than all other causes combined, it is shown by the records of the state fire marshal's office for 1923, which have just been completed. The total number of fires last year was 5,955, and of this number 2,207 were caused by sparks from chimneys and 538 were caused by defective flues.
