    Two area young people represented northern Indiana well at the annual Hoosier Beef Congress in Indianapolis. Cory Sickafoose, South Whitley, showed the champion Limousin steer and Brad Reust, Columbia City, showed the reserve champion Chianina heifer.

    Akron High School cage stars Ron Dittman and Jeff Tilden accepted the sectional tournament championship trophy from C.J. Smith, Warsaw Community High School principal, after the Flyers edged previously undefeated Rochester 91-89 in a thrill-packed overtime title game here Saturday night. Dittman and Tilden combined for 66 points in leading underdog Akron to the basketball crown in its final year as an individual school. Akron and Mentone will combine to form a new high school next fall.

    Contract for supplying lumber and mill work for the new $44,000 Tippecanoe Lake Country Club has been let to Gilliam & Felkner, Leesburg Lumber Co. Doty Brothers, of Milford, are the contractors. James T. Shepard and Dr. Peterson, of Milford, are the promoters of the project to build one of the finest country clubs and golf courses in the middle west here.
