    Grace Pherson Wolf celebrated her 101st birthday Saturday by going out for dinner with her stepdaughters Frances Doran, Big Chapman Lake, and Eva Penn, Wawasee.

Wolf was born March 25, 1988, near Royal Center.

    Twelve-year-old Sabrina Handgen, Leesburg, received the Times-Union, WRSW loving cup from Milford Elementary School Principal Lewis Immel after winning the fifth-sixth grade spelling bee title Saturday in the Warsaw Community High School auditorium. Sabrina, a sixth-grader, won the crown after runner-up Linda Perry, Milford, was eliminated in the 110th round.

    Northern Indiana Public Service Company is now constructing a new 10-inch gas transmission line from South Bend to Nappanee and Warsaw. The construction has already neared Nappanee. A 12,000,000 cubic-foot waterless type gas holder is being constructed at South Bend to feed the line to Nappanee and Warsaw.

    Passing through Warsaw in the cab of a Big Four locomotive Thursday, Al Jennings, Wabash, formerly of Warsaw and Silver Lake, reported with a laugh that he still is among the living, despite numerous published reports that he had died suddenly at his Wabash residence.

"My engine went 'dead' the other day and that explains how the report of my passing became circulated," said Jennings. [[In-content Ad]]
