    Abby Goodstein, a sixth-grader at Lincoln School, was the grand prize winner of the annual Kosciusko County Women's Christian Temperance Union poster contest. Her design stated very clearly through simple graphics and a written message, "Take A Note, Don't Smoke!"

March 29 1974

    More than a half century of firefighting was recognized Friday night at a banquet when Howard Bockman, second from left, and his son, Verland, retired from the North Webster fire department. They leave after each serving 33 years. Verland has been chief of the department for the past 27 years. The elder Bockman will be 82 years of age in August.

    Pfc. Malcolm B. Beezley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Beasley, of North Webster, recently arrived in Japan and has been assigned to the Eighth Fighter wing at Ashiya Air Force Base, it was announced today. Pfc. Beesley enlisted in the Air Force last September and after completing basic training was alerted for duty in the Far East.

    A ball team to be known as the Lakeville Nine has been organized by boys living near the Hyde Stadium on the banks of Center Lake.

The team includes Raymond Warner, captain, Ethol Evans, Claude Peterson, Clyde Heeter, Merl Riggins, Clyde Riggins, Marion Warner, Clifford Hyde, Louie Harris, Bert Hyde, and Milton Warner. [[In-content Ad]]

Lehman Receives 8-Year Sentence For Conspiracy To Commit Murder
ALBION - For his involvement in the murder of Laurel Jean Mitchell in 1975, John W. Lehman, 69, Auburn, was sentenced Friday to eight years in the Indiana Department of Corrections on the charge of conspiracy to commit murder, a Class A felony.
