    The Warsaw High School Jazz Ensemble participated in the Indiana State School Music Association's District Jazz Band Competition at Wabash High School. The band competed in the State Band, group II category and received a division I (superior) rating.

    Wawasee High School freshman Jenny Cox became the school's first champion in girls' sports competition by capturing a first place in the IHSAA gymnastic finals at North Central High School near Indianapolis Saturday. Jenny is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cox, Syracuse.

    Four Warsaw city school students were awarded prizes in the annual American Legion Auxiliary essay contest, it was announced Thursday by local chairwoman, Miss Charlotte M. Butler. Winners were Ruth Robinson, David Philippe, Margie Brandenburg and Isidoros Angel Carnegis.

    The United States Treasury Department has selected the Warsaw Times to advertise its Treasury Savings Certificates and a new booklet which explains these savings securities.
