March 2 1989

    Carmen Conley, Etna Green, a Taylor University student, spent January Interim in Jerusalem, Israel. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Conley, and is a freshman majoring in communications studies.

The trip was led by Dr. Larry Helyer, associate professor of religion at Taylor. While in Jerusalem, the students attended lectures by geographical and archaeological experts in the Institute of the Holy Land Studies.

    Ed Miller, Winona Lake, and Bob Bryant, Akron, were recently selected to the NAIA District 21 all- star team by a panel of 15 coaches.

Miller, a junior at Grace College, ranked third in District 21, scoring with a 21.45 average. Bryant is a senior guard for Tri-State College and finished ninth in scoring with a 20.3 average.

    Mrs. Elmer Hamman, North Webster, writes: "I read in AROUND OUR TOWN AND COUNTRY the other day, about Mrs. Hawley's report that daffodils are blooming at Norfolk, Va. My jonquils have been up for two weeks or more and are in bud. My tulips are all through the ground."

    H.M. Hartman, oldest Warsaw groceryman, today retired from active business with a record of 27 years in the grocery business in Warsaw. Mr. Hartman disposed of his East Fort Wayne Street grocery and general store to John Zolman, of west of Warsaw, and to Boyd Noble, of Mishawaka, former Warsawan, who took possession today.
