    Marc Miller, Warsaw, has won the American Christian Education international checkers contest.

Miller, 16, is the son of Marsha Miller, Warsaw, and a student at Lighthouse Christian Academy. He qualified for the contest by winning the local competition at his school, then winning the state championship two months ago.

    John Harrison received his low gross trophy from owner Spike Stidham for firing a 63 at the V&B Golf Club's Memorial Day Open. Andy Hartley, won low net honors with a 66. Amos Poe was second in low net and Wayne Smith, third.

June 9 1951

    Workers started pouring concrete for the new Farmers Elevator Co. plant in South Whitley. Work will continue around the clock for a week. Three 35-man shifts are on the job pouring cement for the 11 elevator bins.

Manager Walter Penrod, said that the walls, partitions and roof will be poured concrete and steel. Approximately 14,000 yards of cement will be used in constructing the building.

    Earl Scott, Kosciusko Delco Light dealer, leads all salesmen in the Toledo district of the company in percentage of sales, having sold 12 farm lighting plants in the month of May.
