    Colleen Smith was recently named employee of the month at Prairie View Health Care Center, according to Dottie Snavely, facility administrator.

Smith has served in the housekeeping department since August 1988. Her name has been added to a commemorative plaque in the facility, and she also received a personal plaque.

July 26 1974

    The first trophy awarded to the Tippecanoe Valley High School was of the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders. The girls won the trophy recently at the USCA cheerleader camp at Hartland, Mich. Junior varsity leaders are Kay Earl, Sandra Good, Gail Bornmann and Tina May. Varsity leaders are Linda Earl, Melinda Hartzler, Anje Anglin, Lisa Boggs, Amy Bowser and Dana Weaver.

    Ten delegates from Kosciusko County will attend the state convention of Young Democrats to be held in the Claypool Hotel at Indianapolis.

Those from Kosciusko County who will attend are Marjorie Henderson, Mrs. Russell Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hoffert, Bob Fisk and Robert Goshert, of Warsaw; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Homan and Louise Brown, of Claypool; and "Doc" Miller Jr., of Syracuse.

July 26 1924

    Mr. and Mrs. Robert Naftzger, who returned to Winona Lake on Tuesday, were welcomed by an old-fashioned belling, and given a ride through the park, on Wednesday evening. The crowd then returned to the Naftzger home where refreshments were served to 25 guests. Mrs. Naftzger was formerly Catherine Starkey.
