    Amanda Howard caught a 33-inch, 14-1/2 pound catfish at Winona Lake and Aaron Turner caught a 24-inch 4-1/2 pound walleye at Waubee Lake. Aaron was fishing with his dad, Bob, when he caught the fish.

    Airman First Class Joseph A. Williams, son of John M. Williams, Rt. 3, Syracuse, is a member of the unit which recently received the Air Force Communications Service's 100,000 mile driving safety award.

The airman is a teletype repairman at Griffiss AFB, N.Y., with the 485th Electronic Installation Squadron. Unit personnel were cited for accumulating more than 450,000 miles of accident free driving while using government vehicles in support of their squadron's mission.

    There is a real curiosity at the Ray Sloane place at the east end of Yellow Creek Lake. It's a baby white robin - not completely an albino, perhaps, because it has a red breast. Mrs. Sloane noticed it first last Saturday and didn't know for sure that it was a robin until she saw its mother feeding it.

    Charles Smith, of northwest of the city, celebrated his birthday July 4 in the hay field. At noontime he was surprised by several of his friends, who had come to help enjoy the good things his mother had prepared for him, including a huge cake decorated to represent the national flag.
