July 13 1989

    Twelve-year-old Kacy Peterson, daughter of Diane and Tim Marshall, Maye Street, Warsaw, was the winner of a five-day, four-night family vacation for four to Walt Disney World. The trip was the grand prize in a chain-wide Father's Day promotion sponsored by Uhlman's stores. Kacy's name was selected from thousands of entries received during the 32-store chain's promotion in early June.

    The color guard of Warsaw VFW Post 1126 has again won top honors for their performance in two area parades, thereby augmenting their number of trophies to four.

They were awarded first place in the senior color guard division in the recent Mermaid Festival parade and another first-place honor in the Bremen Firemen's Festival parade.

    Carolyn Bowen, Burket, and Elener Norris, Franklin Township, won senior and junior division 4-H club demonstration contests held at the Warsaw High School building Thursday, it was announced by Mrs. John Ptahler, the county 4-H leader, and Miss Marjorie Moore, the county home demonstration agent.

Bowen, the senior division winner, did her demonstration on "paint brush trim," and Norris, the junior division winner, demonstrated how to make pear salad.

    Newell L. Snyder, 1120 East Market St., member of the Warsaw High School class of 1924, has been awarded a scholarship to Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio. This recognition comes to Snyder as winner of the first prize in an essay contest open to all high school students of the senior and junior years in the Brethren denomination, conducted a few months ago by "The Collegian," a weekly college paper.
