    The New Year's Baby was born to Melissa and Jay Harting. Kaelin Paige, who was born at 12:49 p.m. Jan. 2 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

    Dr. James L. Boyer, retiring this semester after 30 years of teaching at Grace Seminary, has been honored with a "festschrift" in the fall issue of the Grace Theological Journal.

A "festschrift" is a volume of articles dedicated in honor of a colleague.

    John Weatherhead and J.D. Clark have been named winners of the Syracuse Outdoor Christmas Lighting contest, sponsored by the Syracuse Business and Professional Women's Club.

Weatherhead was first in the religious division; and Harry Appenzeller was second. Clark was first in general class; Orrin Smith was second; George Lamm, third; and Herschell Bitner, fourth.

    O.F. Gerard, of North Webster, writes The Times about a big prize hog, stating: "We are reading about down in the state of Virginia that they are boasting about a hog being the prize winner, weighing 501 pounds, and claim this to be the largest porker in the state. Sure this is good for one of the southern states, but up north and around North Webster, in Kosciusko County we class this size porkers as pigs.

"Last week L.H. Kline butchered his winter's meat and the smallest one weighing 625 pounds, net weight - this with the squeal taken out, and the hog not very fat." [[In-content Ad]]
