February 23 1989

    Ivan "Red" Zimpleman, Silver Lake, recently retired after 23 years of governmental service as a postal carrier. He serviced 360 customers on Rt. 2, Silver Lake, over 53 miles of roads. He received a Safe Driver's award from the Federal Postal Service Department for his estimated 377,400 miles driven accident free.

    Bruce Groninger, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Eugene Groninger, 1408 W. Flamingo Drive, Warsaw, has recently been elected to the student senate at Fort Wayne International Junior Business College.

Bruce is a 1973 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.

    Hall Hardware, 119 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, has rubber tired lawn carts for $6.75; spring steel Atlas lawn rakes for $1.59; pruning saws for $2.25; sap spouts for 6 cents; and square gallon syrup cans for 30 cents each.

    There are many Syracuse people, and those living about Dewart Lake, who will be pleased to know that Herman Hermansen, formerly superintendent and engineer for the cement company, has been signally honored by the King of Norway for having saved the lives of five persons from drowning, at the risk of his own life. The king presented Mr. Hermansen with a silver metal commemorating the event. He now lives in Tomsberg, Norway, where he operates a new cement mill.
