    Lakeland Christian Academy's girls basketball team finished runner-up in the Indiana Christian Athletic Association state tournament last weekend.

Players include Andrea Curry, Jennie Reeve, Lisa Lightly, Kris Doran, Rachelle Plaster, Kristine Gunsolley, Jill Conley, Jennifer Ellis, Traci Biller and Jessica DeYoung.

    Eight Warsaw Community High School students will compete in the state Office Education Association contest March 30-31 after qualifying against entrants from 11 other schools recently.

Those eligible to compete include Sheilah Kincaide, Debbie Renier, Sharon Justice, Kathy Griswold, Jill Warren, Don Bracker, Kay Allen and Karyl Sand.

    Mrs. George Wilson and Arthur Gilbert, of Milford, each won two first prizes for their exhibits at the Milford Farmers institute on Tuesday. Judging was done by Mrs. Ernest Richards and Mrs. Herbert Blue, of Syracuse, on the baking exhibits, and by Paul Jackson, county agent, and his assistant, Bill Johnson, on the grain, eggs and seed.

    Bonds of matrimony were not sealed with a kiss when Harry L. Landis, 22, mail clerk of Chicago, and Mayme Berry, 19, of North Manchester, were married at the county clerk's office by Justice of the Peace Ellis Bloomer yesterday afternoon.

At the conclusion, Mr. Bloomer suggested that the bride be given a kiss, but this public demonstration did not appeal to the bride, who warded off her husband, awaiting a more propitious moment. [[In-content Ad]]
