February 21 1996

    Trent Templin, son of Scott and Amy Templin, of Leesburg, recently won a Polled Hereford heifer from Tri-State Polled Hereford Club. He was chosen from 4-H'ers in northern Indiana and southern Michigan on the basis of written applications, personal visits and interviews. Trent must show the heifer at the Kosciusko County fair this summer.

    Connie Christner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Christner, of Syracuse, will sing the principle role, that of Olga, in the opera "Fedora," by Giordani Feb. 19-20 and 21 with the Ball State Opera Company in Muncie.

February 21 1956

    Five young women of the area have been pledged to sororities at Indiana University following a week of rushing activities on the Bloomington campus.

The five new pledges include: Karen Gast, Akron, and Gwin Whitesell, South Whitley, both to Delta Zeta; Eleanor Schmedel, North Manchester, to Delta Delta Delta; Linda A. Smith, Columbia City, to Kappa Alpha Theta; and Annabelle Jenkinson, Columbia City, to Kappa Delta.

    The following high school girls, who are members of the Girls' Athletic association, were awarded sweaters at an assembly meeting held at the high school: Jean Widaman, Millie Ellen Helser, Elsie Hodges, Charlotte Parker, Mary Felter, Dawn Seward and Helen Hutton.

Widaman, who was named honor girl for the school year, received an "honor stripe" on her sweater, which is equivalent to the captain stripe heretofore given. [[In-content Ad]]
