Walter Veal, an old-timer around Milford, observed his 50th year as a blacksmith recently. He began learning his trade at Greensburg when he was 18 years old, and is still at it. He remembers the old days of horseshoeing and repairing steel tires on buggy and wagon wheels. He also repaired tongues and axles of wagons and cut iron with a sledge hammer.

The Webster team, coach Glenn Whitehead and principal Charles Gross, have the reputation of being the most gentlemanly and the best sportsmen in the county. Webster has lost many games and the county title but not one squeak or tear has ever been shed, nor were the defeats ever blamed on the referee. Every referee likes to officiate for North Webster. Webster gets the good conduct championship, often harder to win than the game itself. We congratulate you, North Webster.
