Warsaw Community High School seniors Nancy Parke and Mark Schmidt have been named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Corp. competition. The pair are eligible for scholarships from NMSC, business-sponsored scholarships or college/university financial scholarships.

Charles (Chuck) Myers, 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Myers of Milford, received the Boy Scout Meritorious Achievement award from Freeland Phillips, president of the Pioneer Trails Council, at a special ceremony. Young Chuck, a Milford High School junior, was given the award for rescuing a drowning man in the cold waters of Syracuse lake last spring.

A huge flock of wild geese flying northward over Warsaw today attracted hunters who predicted the end of cold weather. Bluebirds and robins were reported enjoying the springlike day.
