Feb. 24 1988

    Two Warsaw Community High School seniors have been nominated for National Honor Society Scholarships. David Darr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Darr, Winona Lake, and Maria Pacheco, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pacheco, Winona Lake, are the only two WCHS students nominated. Both plan to attend Grace College after graduation.

Feb. 24 1973

    The Wawasee High School Chapter of Future Farmers of America placed second in the Purdue Invitational Livestock Judging Contest held recently. The winning team includes Brian Tucker, Kip Tom, Craig Tucker and Steve Tucker.

Feb. 24 1948

    A large crowd assembled Tuesday night in the South Whitley fire station to witness an exhibit of equipment. Demonstrations included use of various types of the fire extinguishers and a fully automatic resuscitator inhalator machine for reviving drownings and suffocation cases.


75 Years Ago
Feb. 24 1923

    The latest thing has just come out. It's a special ring for divorced people. The ring bears a special design, showing a Cupid's arrow broken in half. Some may suggest that a broken rolling pin would be a more appropriate design for the ring than a broken arrow.

Feb. 25 10 Years Ago Dawn Lemons, Warsaw, has been named a cast member on the Ball State University production of "Ah, Wilderness!" Lemons, 18, is a freshman at Ball State majoring in theater. A graduate of Warsaw Community High School, she lives at 1520 Maye St., Warsaw. 25 Years Ago The word whispered around the county this week is that Kosciusko Community Hospital, Inc., has plans nearly complete for a $6.5 million hospital northeast of Warsaw and that blueprints will be going out to prospective bidders on March 4. 50 Years Ago Fourteen-year-old Ruth Ann Nine, daughter of Trustee and Mrs. Ira Nine, will compete in a Chicago radio audition for "Quiz Kid" honors, Monday, Feb. 23. The contest will be held in Studio "D" at the National Broadcasting studios in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The winner of this contest will receive a $100 U.S. savings bond. 75 Years Ago Charles Campbell, formerly of Warsaw, and a well-known trombonist who is playing with a high-class orchestra in Ohio, has been offered a position with the Oriole Terrace Orchestra in New York, an organization which also plays for phonograph records.
