    John Leeper got an unusual Christmas present this year. Instead of a puppy that most 4-year olds would receive, Leeper found Edison the llama. Edison is nine months old and should weigh no more than 400 pounds when fully grown. Leeper is the son of Richard and Tracy Leeper, Bourbon.

    A surprised and happy William Harold Young was named Milford's Citizen of the Year at the third annual Milford Area Development Council's (MAD) banquet held Saturday night at the M&M Restaurant in North Webster. Carl B. Duncan, last year's winner, represented the townspeople's grateful thanks to one of its most dedicated citizens, he said.

    With the end of Dr. T. S. Schult's countywide ban on public gatherings scheduled to end at midnight Thursday, plans were underway today for the re-opening of theaters, lodges, churches, clubs and other places shut down by the county health officer's safety measure.

He reported that no new cases of hemorrhagic smallpox have developed.

    A new method of fishing through the ice and evading fish wardens has been devised. Fishermen drive their enclosed autos on the ice, remove a floor board and fish from their improvised huts, keeping warm by letting their engine run.
