Juvenile officer for the Kosciusko County sheriff's department Burdell Blackburn recently celebrated a birthday. Apparently he received an anonymous black balloon. The card attached simply said something about paybacks. Ever since then he has been investigating the origin of the mystery balloon.

Marie Stokes, secretary to Gatke Corp. executive John Levandis, was caught in mid-blink recently by the Times-Union camera as she and other members of the Kosciusko County Historical Society gathered in the Warsaw Public Library. But Levandis thought the shut-eye was typical when he said to her, "I know you're asleep on the job most of the time, but I thought you could stay awake long enough to have your picture taken." Our guess is that he will not be nominated for boss of the year.

One of North Webster's popular young couples, Burdette "Tony" Strombecka and Patty Berger, will be married March 2, on the Hollywood "Bride and Groom" radio program. Miss Berger submitted a story to the program which was accepted, giving the couple their chance at the radio marriage.

During the opening exercises at the Leesburg school, John Longfellow, basketball coach and teacher, presented each player on the Leesburg High School basketball team with a handsome athletic sweater of dark blue, with the letter "L" in white, as a gift from the business men of Leesburg for the team's splendid showing this year. They were Dale Stookey, Heber McCann, Cleo Bricker, Emera Hearn, Harold Stackhouse, Everett Hartman and Forrest Essig.
