    Gracie Freeman was honored Dec. 20 at Stonehenge Golf Club for her 40 years in nursing in the Warsaw community. She has spent the past seven years working at Miller's Merry Manor.

December 27 1981

    "Man and Woman of the Year" recognition was given to Mr. and Mrs. Paul K. Miller by the Chapman Lakes Conservation Club at a recent monthly meeting. The trophy, with "traveling" status, was presented to the Millers, who live on Big Chapman, by Mr. and Mrs. George Schiff, to whom it was awarded last year, on behalf of the club.

    A picture of CAP Cadet David Beeson, of Winona Lake, appears in the current issue of an aviation magazine. Dave was the cadet who won a scholarship offered by Lt. Col. Elliott Kaye-Smith, of Winona Lake. Dave soloed in eight hours, 50 minutes.


75 Years Ago

December 27 1931

    Warsaw firemen, after delivering 500 gifts to deserving children in Warsaw, on Christmas Eve, assembled at the fire house and presented Police Chief Frank Lucas with a gift showing their affection for the chief who has shown them many acts of kindness.

A police whistle and policeman's club were given the chief. The club was about the thickness of a carpenter's lead pencil and about four to six inches long. The whistle was of a size to correspond to the club. [[In-content Ad]]
