Jon Konkle, fifth grader at Claypool Elementary School received an early Christmas present when he was awarded a Fightin' Irish basketball presented by 3rd District Congressional candidate Tim Roemer. He said he wanted Konkle to have the ball because of the interest he showed in Notre Dame during a recent political meeting which 'Digger' Phelps spoke at.

Rick Dahlstrom was the recipient of the "Most Valuable Player" award for Wawasee's football team this past fall. Dahlstrom, who gained more than 1400 yards for the 8-2 Warriors was also chosen All-Sate Division II. He was presented the award by his head coach Hal Traviolia.
