    The plaque astronaut James B. Irwin presented to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev as he left New York for Moscow was prepared by Warsaw resident Michael Klondaris.

Klondaris, an employee of Cox Studio, said the plaque Gorbachev received Thursday displayed some of the items Irwin took to the moon aboard the 1971 Apollo 15 mission.

    DeVon Hurd, Rt. 5, Warsaw, has been accepted by Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis, where he will study automotive/truck technology. Hurd is scheduled to begin the 75-week auto-diesel and truck technology course on March 11, 1974. The course is designed to prepare individuals for rewarding careers in the automotive and truck service industry. DeVon is a senior at Mentone High School.

    Roscoe Bash, North Manchester, will be presented with a new 1949 Model HD Johnson outboard motor by Lynn Pierce, of the Tippecanoe Boat Company of Tippecanoe. Mr. Pierce will make the presentation on behalf of the Johnson Outboard Motor Company. Mr. Bash won the prize offered by a radio program called Fishing and Hunting Club of the Air.

    For the first time in the history of the radio, Warsaw fans Tuesday night listened to France. Persons at the Jesse Whitehead home distinctly heard the address of a French senator delivered in a French city after 9 o'clock, Warsaw time. The address was received by way of Schenectady, N.Y.
