April 30, 1941, remains vivid in Bruce Howe's memory. "Homer Rodeheaver asked me if I smoked. I said no. He asked me if I drank. I said, no, and he said 'Are you ever going to?' and I said, no. He said, 'You're hired.' Howe is retiring 46 years later as vice president of music publishing for Word Inc., but will be with the company in a consulting position.

The Owen-Illinois Glass company of Toledo, Ohio, announces the purchase recently of the Warsaw factory of the Weatherhead company. The new plant was purchased as a part of the expansion program of the Kimble Glass company, a wholly owned O-I-G subsidiary.

Elmer Smith, trustee of Harrison Township, today received bids for the new Harrison Township School, which will cost around $70,000. The contract was awarded to Merl P. Hodges of Warsaw, on his bid of $47,898.
