    The overall male and female finishers of the Etna Green Country Run are Justine Faulkner, Bourbon, 24:33, 4-mile run; Nathan Dorn, Belmont, Mich., 20:05, 4-mile run; Tom Sherwood, Elkhart, 4:28, 1-mile run; and Devan Marsh, Etna Green, 6:26, 1-mile run. Approximately 170 runners competed in the race.

    A first year 4-H competitor waltzed out of the show ring with a trophy and blue ribbon after winning the Grand Champion Barrow title at the 65th Kosciusko County Fair.

Bobi Stookey, the 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin (Cathy) Stookey Jr., Milford, won the Grand Champion Market Barrow trophy. She showed a 230-pound Crossbred hog.

50 Years Ago

August 4 1956

    Eight honor girls in the senior division of the 4-H dress revue were named following the judging and public showing held at the county fairgrounds in east Warsaw.

Receiving this outstanding recognition are Carol Dickey, Linda Walther, Judy Stouffer, Sandra Brubaker, Wilburta Latimer, Pearl Widman, Nancy Albert and Joyce Hathaway.

    COLUMBIA CITY - Landis Pressler was cutting dead limbs out of a maple tree when he found a stalk of corn, fully 35 feet above the ground, growing out of one of the limbs. Not only that, the stalk was in tassel.
