    OXFORD, Ohio - Scott Whetstone, a member of the Tippecanoe Valley Aquatic Club, helped lead the Indiana Zone Swim Team to a win in the Central Zone Championship on the campus of Miami University.

Whetstone finished third in the 15-18 boys age group in overall points with 88. He won the 100 freestyle, was second in the 200 butterfly, 5th in the 50 free, 6th in the 200 free, 7th in the 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle.

    Todd Leckrone scored a 7-and-6 victory over Matt Binford recently to capture the Rozella Ford Golf Club junior championship.

Leckrone will be a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

August 14 1956

    Irma Gall, teacher of a one-room schoolhouse at Elisha's Creek, at Creekville, Ky., has returned to her work. This spring Gall amazed our county residents when she rode her horse "Bob" the entire 500 miles from Kentucky to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gall, of Syracuse. On the return trip, Bob was riding in style in a trailer.

    The Standard Oil Co. of Indiana announced in Chicago today a 2-cent reduction in the price of its regular gasoline, bringing the cost down to 12 cents, including the state tax of 3 cents.

Inquiry at the Warsaw station of the Standard Oil Co. brought the reply that this morning no order of a cut has been received. The regular gasoline selling for 15.4 that is 11 cents for gasoline, and 4 cents for gasoline tax. [[In-content Ad]]
