    Teja Rao, son of Mr. and Mrs. Suvarna Rao, Warsaw, has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship to Valparaiso University, where he will be enrolled in the college of engineering.

A member of the 1988 graduating class at Warsaw Community High School, Rao was a member of the marching band, honor society and Academic Super Bowl.

    Warsaw Police patrolman Jerry Johnson, affectionately called "Shultz" by fellow officers, was the victim of "stuck finger syndrome" when his thumb became lodged inside his key ring attached to his police uniform.

The ring had to be removed from the uniform before two sheriff's officers could help Johnson slip out of the thumb trap.

    "Buddy" Howe, aged about 4 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Howe, and grandson of Harry Rowan, Winona Lake, was fishing in the canal at Winona on Saturday when he caught a 2-pound bass. The youngster took an old fishing pole with a short fishing line, used a stone as a sinker and an old rusty fishing hook with a cricket to make his fine catch. He landed the fish by himself after some effort.
