    County fair officials didn't reap a financial bonanza from the first paid gate in 1986 and are certain this year's admission will only assist in keeping up with a number of needed improvements at the fairgrounds. The decision to charge a gate admission was a necessity, and it is likely the practice will continue for years to come.

    Melinda Tom and Jo Ellen Dickey were selected as the best seamstresses when county 4-H girls presented their annual dress review. Both girls received trophies for their painstaking efforts.

    These days you about need a shoe horn to get through the sunbathers, swimmers, relaxers, etc., at the city park and beach on Center Lake. The blocks-long stretch of grass and trees and sand along the lakefront is a real asset to the community. A rule set up by Clyde Miller, custodian, for the park gang, is that the first thing every morning every last scrap of trash is cleared from the grounds.

    It is reported that the coal supply on the Michigan division of the Big Four is practically exhausted and that officials have given instruction for confiscating commercial coal within the next day or two to keep trains moving. When the confiscation begins, it will mean that no fuel will be received in Warsaw, or any other city along the division.
