April 20 1989

    Mike "Flash" Howell, 31, got 1989's first hole-in-one on championship hole No. 3 at Stonehenge Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.

Howell used a 7-iron to sink the shot on the 174-yard hole. The feat was witnessed by playing partners Ray Harroff, Ed McKown, Jerry Nelson and Dave Schumaker.

    The annual selection of the Courtesy King and Queen of Warsaw Junior High School seventh and eighth grades was made Friday. Seventh-grade queen and king were Anne Heyde and Joe Nelson and eighth-grade queen and king were Chris Jensen and Stew Banghart. The runners-up king and queen for the eighth grade were Eddie Fields and Gail Tusing and the seventh-grade runners-up were Terri Ward and Jeff Tallman.

    Bob Henderson, Warsaw High School senior, won third place Tuesday night in the Rotary Club's district contest held at Peru.

Henderson advanced to the district contest by winning the Warsaw Rotary contest on Monday. On April 1, he and Dick Sims, a Warsaw High School junior, tied for honors in the Rotary contest here. They gave their discussions again Monday at the high school and Henderson was judged the winner.
