The new coach for the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings is former Valley standout Scott Bibler. He took over for Jeff Phillips, head coach for six years, compiling a 41-20 record.
A ditch has been dug through the swampy area behind Tyler Machinery Company and Wolfgang's Restaurant to alleviate flooding on Prairie Street. It travels 500 feet, is five feet wide and five feet deep. The new ditch empties into Walnut Creek.
Shipshape summer basketball team, who won the regular season title: Rob Irwin, Brooks Koble, Seth Swihart, Darrell Gudeman, Tom Brady, Worth Packer and Phil Taylor.
Children of Warsaw Child Care Center read 10,550 books this summer.

Gary Goshert, 14-15 year-old division, shot an 86 for 18 holes to win the boys division of the junior golf tournament Aug. 12 at Rozella Ford Community Golf Course. Bruce Grossnickle was runner-up with an 88. Rhonda Denney, 13, won the trophy for best score in the girls division, a nine hole total of 66; Barbara Runyan, 15, shot a 69.
Mrs. Betty L. Ellison, Warsaw Community High School Spanish teacher, participated in the sixth annual Foreign Language Institute at Purdue University.
Construction has started on an addition to Harvey's Dime Store in the Lowery Shopping Center on East Market St., with plans to open in November.

Plans for the Silver Lake fair, to be held from August 28 to 31, are being formulated. Exhibits will be housed in tents at the school building and in the gymnasium. Motor City Shows of Detroit has been given the contract for the carnival. Howard Deetz will direct the 4-H club softball tournament.[[In-content Ad]]
