Captain Tom Drummond recently retired from the Warsaw Fire Department after 25 and one-half years. Presenting the Fireman's Axe were Dan Fifer, Kreg Warren and Joe Fretz.
Warsaw's Roger Marshall and his band, “The Law,” have a new country CD, “Hiding in the Wide Open,” being released Sept. 17. On the 18th, they will play in a Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne.
Jim and Peggy Keeton, Warsaw, found an old photo showing the price of gasoline at Sinclair Service Station in April 195827 cents a gallon. The station was located at the northwest corner of Center and Lake streets, site of the present Justice Building. The courthouse is in the background.

South Whitley is gearing up for “Celebration '90,” the town's annual festival, which begins at noon Friday, Sept. 7, when the VFW serves bratwurst and sauerkraut, corn on the cob, barbecued ribs and beverages in their parking lot. The VFW hosts “Quacker 500” on the Eel River Saturday. A bonfire finale in Community Park Sunday night concludes the celebration.
Grandpa Vanderhof (Tom Roland) shows audiences how to relax and enjoy life in “You Can't Take It With You,” which completes the 1990 summer season at the Wagon Wheel Theatre. The comedy opened last night, Sept. 5 and will continue until Sept. 16.

Miss Carrie Jacques, of the Peabody Home, North Manchester, will celebrate her birthday Saturday, Aug. 28. She was supervisor of music in the Warsaw schools for 21 years. Many of her former pupils, who remember her with deep affection, will want to send her greetings on this day.
Mrs. James Teghtmeyer (Cynthia Wilson), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson, owners of Alfran Nursing Home, graduated from Ball State University Aug. 20 where she received an arts degree in education, with guidance and counseling as a special field. She is a1958 graduate of Pierceton High School. She and her husband reside in Columbia City where he manages the Ace Hardware store.
